A Girls First Spring Celebration

presented by COHO PARTNERS and HUNTINGTON BANK

This year, on April 23rd, we were delighted to once again celebrate the success of our girls and the growth of our programming at our annual spring fundraiser held at Appleford Villanova. Our unique event featured a cocktail party in the garden, live music, silent auction, the presentation of our inaugural Oak Tree Award, and nearly 100 Girls First supporters and community connectors in attendance.

The Oak Tree Award Recipient: Suzy Wasson

Given to an individual whose strength, wisdom, resilience and sheltering care have made an outsized and lasting impact on Girls First, our students, and our families. We joyfully inaugurated this award by presenting it to Suzy Wasson.

A professional educator, Suzy’s love of teaching drew her to the newly formed Girls First over fourteen years ago as a volunteer and curriculum coordinator, through which she helped establish our commitment to the arts, including writing, painting, music, drama, and dance.

Suzy has said that one of the greatest gifts in her life was being involved with this grass roots after-school program. But for Girls First, one of our greatest gifts has always been Suzy.
